  • Hook Avenue Apartment is an experiment in small space living.

A minimal material palette, creative use of built-in furnishings and storage opportunities, and an ability to visually borrow views, aid in perceptually enlarging a small apartment.

The spaces are defined by: 1. the “u” – a built-in storage and shelving unit which envelops the central stairway - and 2. a skylight with internal canted walls. While grounding the living room, the “u” and the skylight are vertically aligned to celebrate the stairway entry, thereby also enhancing the quiet ceremony of arrival and departure.

project type : renovation of a second floor duplex
design : peter tan, christine ho ping kong
construction : peter tan, lubo brezina, scott eunson
